Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Eugene Johnson was baptized at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, where he accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1968. In 1976 he was ordained as a Deacon, and in 1978 he accepted the call to preach.
The core of Dr. Johnson’s ministry is saving lost souls and those who have not accepted Christ as their personal Savior. Dr.
Johnson’s understanding of people makes him a premier pastor for those who face the day to day struggle of life. A personable person, Dr. Johnson’s theme of “God loves you, and I do, too!” echoes across the sanctuary of Mt. Moriah and reaches out into the South Suburban communities.
Our Bible Class is second only to our Sunday School. It is taught by Dr. Johnson himself, who has addressed such themes as What Salvation Means and Why You Cannot Lose Your Salvation.
Our worship services are designed as Christ would have them to be, with the central focus on preaching and teaching. Prayer by the Deacons and the melodious songs of the choirs are all just preparation for the dynamic preaching and teaching of Dr. Johnson. Preaching to save lost souls and teaching to edify and build up those who are saved, Dr. Johnson spares nothing in emptying himself throughout the delivery of the message of God.
